It's 2:00AM...As I try to sleep, I can't help but have these thoughts...
As I face my new responsibility in the institution...I begin to think how challenging my task is. I am now exposed into realities in life where I see some students struggle to reach their goals. I wonder why do they have to face problems like school supplies, uniforms, boarding houses, allowances, etc... Why can't life be fair to them?
My heart bleeds as I hear the group of aetas express their ambitions in life during their Personality Development Seminar. One of them wants to finish his studies so he can teach his parents to write their names and so he can help others in their community to read and write. It is the dream of a lady to help her family be delivered from poverty. Another lady wants to be a nurse so she can serve her sick "katutubos" and help them become aware of health and safety.
I was just thinking how their dreams and their ambitions in life be realized. At the moment still, some of them don't have the needed school supplies. While some of them are already housed in some parishes, others are still looking for a place near the school that they can occupy. Their problem though does not end here...for they still have to battle and face everyday challenges in life in terms of economic, social, mental and psychological.
Maybe I need to sleep now...tomorrow will surely be another day...my wish and my dream is for a day to come that these students will be delivered from the bondage of poverty...that they will be out of misery and that they will become successful in life.
How I wish I can do more...how I wish I can address most of their needs...
Sometimes Life Is Unfair...
